Anthropic / Claude Code

Website: anthropic.com

Dline offers two ways to use Claude:

  • Anthropic: use an Anthropic API key, billed per token.
  • Claude Code: sign in with a Claude Pro / Max subscription and consume its quota.
  1. Go to the Anthropic Console and sign up or sign in.

  2. Open the API keys page.

  3. Click Create Key and give the key a recognizable name, such as Dline.

  4. Copy the key immediately and store it securely. You cannot view it again after closing the page.

See Model configuration for the general flow.

  1. Click the Settings button in the Dline panel title bar.

  2. Set Provider to Anthropic.

  3. Paste the key into the Anthropic API Key field.

  4. Search for or select a Claude model under Model.

  5. (Optional) To route requests through a gateway, set a custom base URL. See the next section.

Keep Use custom base URL unchecked to send requests to Anthropic. Check it to send them to another address instead, for example a gateway or a proxy in front of the Anthropic API.

  1. Check Use custom base URL and enter the address the gateway exposes, such as https://gateway.example.com. Enter the API address itself, not the gateway’s dashboard page.

  2. Keep the Anthropic API Key field set to the key that gateway accepts. A gateway that authenticates with its own key needs that key here, not an Anthropic key.

  3. Select a model under Model. The model ID must be one the gateway accepts.

The default is https://api.anthropic.com, and most users never change it. Dline sends the key only to the address you typed, so the gateway must accept Anthropic’s Messages API shape.

If you already have a Claude Pro / Max subscription, sign in with it directly and skip API key management.

  1. Open Dline settings and set Provider to Claude Code.

  2. Click Sign in and complete authorization in the browser page opened by the Sign in to Claude dialog. If the browser cannot return automatically, paste what Claude gives you back into the dialog.

  3. When the status shows Signed in, select a model under Model.

  • Requests consume your subscription quota instead of API token billing.
  • When the sign-in lapses, the status shows Sign-in expired. Click Sign in again to reauthorize.

Claude models that support thinking show thinking settings below the model selector:

  • Adaptive thinking models: choose a thinking effort under Adaptive Thinking. Higher effort produces more detailed answers and uses more tokens.
  • Budget thinking models: set a thinking token budget.
  • Thinking Display: controls how thinking content is shown.

Thinking content counts toward token usage. For how it works, how it interacts with tool use and prompt caching, and how it is billed, see Anthropic’s extended thinking documentation.

  • Prompt caching: Claude models support prompt caching, which can significantly reduce cost and latency for repeated requests.
  • Pricing: See the Anthropic pricing page for current rates.
